UPSC postpones civil services preliminary exam to Oct 10

  The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Thursday postponed the civil services preliminary examination, scheduled to be held in June, to October 10 in view of the alarming COVID situation. The commission conducts civil services examination annually in three stages — preliminary, main and interview — to select officers of Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) among others. Previously the exam was scheduled in June 27,2021

43rd GST council meet

 The video conference will be attended by Associate Finance Minister Anurag Thakur, Finance Ministers and dignitaries from all states and Union Territories. Finance Minister PTR Palanivel Thiagarajan is attending on behalf of Tamil Nadu. The meeting is expected to discuss resolving pending issues, including the inclusion of petroleum products under the GST tax. State governments are expected to push for the abolition of the five per cent GST levied on corona vaccines, as well as tax exemptions on key corona-related drugs, including oxygen.

Tamilandu COVID -19 today update 26th May

 In Tamil Nadu, 33,764 people have been diagnosed with corona in the last 24 hours. Following this, the total number of victims in Tamil Nadu has increased to 19,45,260. The maximum number of people diagnosed with corona was 4,268 in Coimbatore and 3,561 in Chennai. In the last 24 hours, 475 people have died after being treated for corona. Following this, the total death toll rose to 21,340. A further 29,717 have recovered and returned home. So far a total of 16,13,221 people have recovered from the infection. Currently 3,10,224 people are being treated at the hospital.

The families of the journalists killed by Covid-19 will get Rs. 10 lakhs: TN Chief Minister

  Covid -19 virus kills people from various walks of life. Many journalists who have been declared frontline staff have been victims of corona infections . In this case, the family of the deceased will be given Rs. 5 lakh as compensation. At present the Chief Minister Stalin has issued an announcement raising the amount of compensation to Rs. 10 lakhs. Similarly, the special incentive for journalists has been increased from Rs.3000 to Rs.5000.

Anna University arrear exam dates announced

Ration shops to open from 8 a.m. to 12 noon

 The Tamil Nadu government on Monday allowed the Public Distribution System outlets (proportion shops) to work from 8 a.m. to 12 early afternoon during the continuous serious COVID-19 lockdown.  Correcting a Government Order, it said banks and protection organizations (prior just banks were allowed) to work with 33% of their labor force. Staff of private associations/IT/ITES will telecommute.  ATMs and related bank administrations will likewise be allowed.

Chennai Padma Seshadri school teacher arrested for sexual harassment

  Rajagopalan, a teacher at Padma Seshadri School in Chennai, has been arrested by the police for sending pornographic text messages to students in online classes and attending an online class in half-dress. Parents and political party leaders call for action against teacher and school administration for failing to report sexual harassment of students.

TN Covid 19 positive cases today

  In Tamil Nadu, 35,483 people have been diagnosed with corona in the last 24 hours. In TamilNadu, 1,76,824 samples tested in last 24 hours, 35,476  confirmed cases of covid 19 were reported. Of these, 1,389 children under the age of 12 have been diagnosed with coronavirus. As of April 5, the incidence of coronary heart disease in 128 children was steadily rising.
